The Sierra Air Quality Sensor is a compact, real time device that tracks the air you breathe and turns
invisible data into clear, human centered insights. Through a connected app, it alerts you when to open
or close windows, limit outdoor activity, or move to healthier spaces.

MISSION FOCUS

The Air Quality Sensor reinforces the Sierra Club mission
of leading environmental advocacy, mobilizing individuals and driving climate solutions so that future communities inherit a healthy, equitable, and resilient world, by turning air quality data into practical daily guidance that helps people protect their health, recognize environmental risks and make more informed decisions about the space they live in.

SIMILAR TO

Existing air quality monitoring devices and platforms
such as Awair air quality monitor.

HOW IT IS DIFFERENT

The Sierra Air Quality Sensor goes beyond data tracking by translating environmental information into clear, actionable guidance centered on human well being. It connects personal health decisions with collective environmental impact, encouraging behavioral change.

MISSION FOCUS

The EcoLife Learning Kits reinforce the Sierra Club mission of leading environmental advocacy, mobilizing individuals and driving climate solutions so that future communities inherit a healthy, equitable, and resilient world, by helping students and families understand environmental issues through simple, real activities
such as testing air quality, observing local ecosystems, and reducing waste at home. They connect learning
to everyday habits, encouraging practical actions that support healthier communities and
a more sustainable future.

SIMILAR TO

Educational science kits and environmental learning
tools such as DIY STEM kits, which help users understand environmental conditions through hands
on activities and data.

HOW IT IS DIFFERENT

They connect learning directly with practice and personal health outcomes, encouraging children and families
to apply what they learn through real life activities that improve both environmental conditions and everyday
well being.

THINKING WORKSHOPS

ED10
Systems Thinking Workshops are interactive learning experiences. Through mapping exercises, real world scenarios, and guided collaboration, participants visualize how individual steps impact larger ecosystems, and develop clear, practical steps such as reducing waste, shifting consumption habits, or advocating for local environmental changes.

MISSION FOCUS
The System Thinking Workshop reinforces the Sierra
Club mission of leading environmental advocacy, mobilizing individuals and driving climate solutions so
that future communities inherit a healthy, equitable, and resilient world, by turning complex environmental systems into clear, practical insights that connect directly to human well being. Participants understand how factors such as air quality, energy use, and urban design influence daily health, from stress levels to physical conditions. They lead to concrete actions such as reducing energy consumption, making informed consumption choices,
and participating in local environmental initiatives.

SIMILAR TO

Educational and collaborative experiences such as programs by IDEO and sustainability workshops by Ellen MacArthur Foundation that explore complex problem solving and design thinking.

HOW IT IS DIFFERENT

Instead of only analyzing problems, participants leave with specific actions tailored to their context, from personal behavior changes to community level initiatives.
